Abstract | The implementation of advanced manufacturing solutions is critical to meet high-volume production requirements while maintaining quality and reducing waste. This paper details the development and deployment of an automated form-in-place gasket dispensing machine to address issues encountered with over-molded gaskets in a plastic injection molding process. The smart-manufacturing solution significantly reduced scrap rates, improved efficiency, and ensured readiness for projected high-volume production. The research is based on a unique and innovative design implemented at my company’s manufacturing facility in March 2024. |
